"Your K-6 Students n' Staff Will Complete
Three Refrigerator-Ready Pictures... During
This Fully Interactive, Standards-Based
Draw Along Elementary School Assembly"
For some of these kids, art is the one subject in which they excel and shine. Assemblies like Kyle's validate those kids and their talents. It is also valuable for those students who do not feel confident in their artistic abilities and shy away from art. Kyle makes it fun and easy for everyone involved."
Nadia Pena Torres
Napa Valley Language Academy
Napa Valley, CA
"All of the students were very excited to have an assembly they could participate in with you, rather than having to listen to someone speak for an hour.
Often times assemblies are over the students heads and they don't connect with the person who is speaking. The students were all very engaged and connected to you and enjoyed themselves."
Christine Mazone
Ashley Falls Elementary
Del Mar, CA
"I know I speak for many teachers when I say we are always concerned about the quality of an assembly. We never have enough time to teach all that we need to and completely dislike it when we lose valuable time for an assembly that is entertaining but not educational.
I thought you were excellent for many reasons... you had complete control of a large audience, used excellent teaching strategies and kept the students active and participating the whole time. It was informative, valuable and enjoyable."
Tina Rondinella
McKinley Elementary
Burbank, CA
"I normally do not like assemblies. Yours was well worth it.
...I think the most important part of your presentation was your ability to talk with the kids, you were on their level, able to keep them on task and hold their interest."
Kelly Dohmann
Jackson Ave Elementary
Livermore, CA
"Your assembly this morning was, by far, the best assembly I've ever attended. The level of engagement is assured since most kids love to draw. Even those who dislike drawing were engaged and felt successful."
Lydia Vicknair
John Muir Elementary
Antioch, CA
"It was nice to have such a participatory assembly. So often (too often) we are just a passive audience. We see singers, dancers, jugglers, puppeteers. Sometimes people bring animals, but again we just watch. This was a lot of fun and the kids DID something."
Leslye Davidson
Edison Elementary
Alameda, CA
"Best assembly of the year by far. Usually I have several students who are disruptive and bored during assemblies. But every single one was engaged and excited throughout the drawing assembly. They were so excited to show their drawings to everyone - friends, teachers and families!"
Jennifer Bernstein
John Gomes Elementary
Fremont, CA
"I was a bit skeptical when I saw the title of this assembly. I teach K's and didn't think this would be grade appropriate for our littlest students.
You proved me wrong! Kids were totally enthralled with your assembly! My parents were amazed their 5 and 6 year olds were able to draw so well. This was the best assembly we've ever had."
Susan Welence
Maeola Beitzel Elementary
Elk Grove, CA
"... that morning I got a new student who speaks no English. She was overwhelmed as we rushed to get to the assembly. I had no way to explain what was happening. I could not have picked a better experience for her first hour in an American school. She was able to complete the lessons and felt proud of what she created."
Kathy Jackson
Niles Elementary
Fremont, CA
"I have not seen an assembly with this much interaction before, and thats what makes it even more fun for the kids - they don't have a chance to misbehave because they are so busy drawing!"
Karrie Vicory
Quail Glen Elementary
Roseville, CA
"Your interactive assembly work so well! I wish all school assemblies were interactive! The interactivity also made it enjoyable for me because I did not have to constantly manage my class... so, as a result, I was able to participate in the lessons, too!"

Dear Friend,
If you're sick of bringing in the same old, boring, typical assemblies each year... (the ones where your students just sit there, bored to tears, listening to a talking head, learning nothing)... then this is going to be the most exciting message you will ever read.
Here is why:
My name is Kyle Tiernan and I am a K-6 Visual Arts Specialist, a member of the National Arts Educators Association, and of course, the National PTA.
And, since 2002 my draw-along elementary school assemblies have become the go to solution for schools n’ PTAs (all around the country) looking for the most educational and entertaining programs for their students.
I call this special program “Drawing Secrets Revealed!” And...
Calling It An Assembly In The Typical Sense
Hardly Does It Justice!
It’s often better described as a directive drawing workshop that's loaded with standards based educational content... presented in an extremely engaging, fun and unique way that produces...
An Unmatched Sense Of Accomplishment
Within Your Children
In fact, I often tell interested schools it doesn’t matter that I’m going to teach their kids how to draw a super-cute koala or a race car. It doesn’t matter that I’m going to give them rock solid educational content their teachers are going to appreciate.
What really matters is your kids are going to create (regardless of previous artistic ability) three refrigerator-ready drawings they can be proud of and take home to tell mom n’ dad:
“Look What I Drew Today!”

Giving your kids the experience, the self-esteem boost, the feeling of pride for a job well done is what this assembly is truly all about.
You’ll see it in your child’s beaming ear to ear smile at the end of the assembly. You’ll hear it from parents who are excited their PTA brought in an assembly their kiddos got to participate in.
And you’ll hear it in the lounge from your teachers, who just like Janeen Alexandre at McPherson Elementary in Napa Valley, will be saying:
Or...
Said by Terry Linney at Smith Elementary School in Livermore, CA.
Simply put: This assembly is about what the kids can do, while giving them a chance to round out their education by learning all about the arts through quality instruction.
Here’s How It Works
Your students will arrive to the shows with three sheets of blank white paper, a pencil and something hard to draw on. (Using these supplies, your students are going to be kinesthetically involved the entire time... and... this active participation is key to making the information really stick.)

I’ll be up front using an overhead projector (or one of those fancy new docu-cams) taking the kids step-by-step through a series of whimsical, creative and educational drawings. (This approach allows me to work with any size group, and rest assured... I’ll be using some mega-effective group teaching strategies to insure everyone – even the K’s – will be able to complete the drawings.)
While we’re drawing your children will learn dozens of specific tips, tricks and techniques they can apply immediately to their drawings and take back to the classroom and use later on. (This is the type of educational content your teachers are looking for in the assemblies you schedule.)
What’s more, each and every secret your students learn is...
A Direct Fulfillment Of State Standards
For The Visual Arts!

It’s true. Each assembly is jam packed with at least 8 (and often 12-14) drawing secrets that literally demonstrate, explain and solidify your state’s visual arts standards for K-6 students.
Marie Lanka - Sutter Elementary School - Santa Clara, CA
"Also, I thought it was fantastic how you tied in State Standards that the students are learning or need to learn, into the art lessons. Many of the terms you used were ones that my 3rd grade class just learned or will be learning. It is always great for students to see how some of the things we are teach can be used in other areas or real life situations."Holly Hammons - Mission Crest Elementary School - Hesperia, CA
"All the students walked away proudly with their drawings they had created following Kyle's directions. His assembly also matched several content standards, for instance the mathematical content standards as he incorporated geometric vocabulary such as cubes, spheres, etc. into his assembly presentation. I highly recommend this assembly!"Lynda Okerson - Cullen Elementary School - Glendora, CA
Here’s Just Some Of What
Your Students Are Going To Uncover:
- A philosophy of drawing created by a world renown art instructior (Glen Vilppu) preaching 'No Rules, Just Tools.' We'll cover an overview of typical art materials before I reveal a MEGA tool almost all people (especially adults) forget about! [Standard K-1.2]
- A very simple technique to create balance in a piece of artwork. CAUTION: When used too often it'll make your pictures super boring! Discover the other side of balance with this often overlooked strategy. [Standards 2-2.5, 6-1.4]
- The difference between shapes and forms. How one will make your drawings flat and boring, while the other will make the picture look like it’s going to POP off the page and bite you in the nose! [Standards K-1.1, K-1.3]
- How to anchor the subject of your artwork to insure it won’t “float” on the page and my favorite technique for simple ultra-harmonic compositions! [Standard 5-1.1]
- An on-the-fly, auto-pilot ‘fix’ using a magical white paint! This is a secret used by top pros to end pencil smudges forever. We’ll learn how to use it during the drawing process, and, how to use it for revisions later on. (Side bonus: It also relates to the BIGGEST mistake rookies make when learning how to draw.) [Standard 6-4.4]
- “Art Adjectives” - Elements of design are found in nature and every day life, but we rarely notice them. They’re super easy to apply and majorly enhance children’s artwork once they learn what they are and where to look for them. [Standards 1-1.1, 1-1.3, 2-1.3]
- Debunking the overly sophisticated term ‘negative space’ to learn how drawing nothing can and will actually create something on your page. [Standard 4-1.2, 2-2.3]
- The “drawing alphabet.” Your students will learn the best thing to remember when it comes to curbing frustration while drawing details, and how using the three “letters” of drawing make it a lot easier. [Standards 1-2.4, 3-1.1]
- How to show movement in a drawing using the Principles Of Animation set down by Walt Disney’s famed “9 Old Men.” [Standards 3-1.1, 3-2.6, 5-2.2]
- Turning a sketch or doodle into a full-fledged piece of artwork ready for exhibition or framing using the illusions of space, perspective, depth and overlapping. [Standards 2-2.3, 5-2.6, 6-1.1, 3-1.3]
- What all of our favorite cartoon characters have in common, and a simple strategy to draw any of them from memory! [Standards K-1.3, 1-5.3, 2-1.3]
Plus, your students will walk away with:
A Working Art Vocabulary!
And that’s just some of the art specific stuff they’re gonna learn! Most of the drawing lessons I teach include some type of cool animal.
So, it’s only fitting that as we’re drawing the animals, your kids are learning all about the animals themselves – what makes them unique, their role in the ecosystem, their individual habitats, etc.
Jenny Anderson - Valley Center Lower Elementary - Valley Center, CA
"I loved how the use of shapes, by name, we used. It allowed the students to use their prior knowledge and see how shapes are used to make other things. I really enjoyed the extra facts the students learned about the animals they drew. All of the students felt like artists when they left the assembly. This was an AWESOME assembly where the kids were really engaged and wanting more. The hour went by very quickly (unlike most assemblies)! By far the best assembly we've had!"Christina Glady - Chaparral Elementary School - Poway, CA
Your kids are going to hear age appropriate jokes, on the fly questions and stories galore as we work our way through each drawing lesson together, so you can rest assured everyone’s going to be:
Focused, On Task And Entertained
Throughout The Shows!
Are you beginning to see how this elementary school assembly is different from all the other ones out there?
How it focuses on the kids and their abilities... and not on what I’m able to do?
How the kids actually participate during the shows, as opposed to other assemblies where they just sit there?
How that participation helps to create an “active learning environment” where the educational content doesn’t just slide off like water off a ducks back... but instead helps to make it all “stick”... so the kids can use it immediately and forever?

And most importantly how...
All Of These Things Are Going To
Work Together To Create An Awesome
Experience For Your Students!
Sounds pretty awesome, doesn't it?
You bet it does!
And you don't even have to take my word for it. If you've not seen me perform before, go ahead and
Check Out What Other
PTA's, Principals and Teachers Have Said!
(As you're about to witness, I've got a LOT of school staff, parents and administrators who've come to know and trust the programs I deliver.)
Martha Garcia - Pleasant View Elementary School - Baldwin Park, CA
"All too often assemblies get a little out of control, but you had the attention of all the students in the room. The kids really responded to the techniques you used and they all came back to class and couldn't wait to show me the pictures they had drawn. heir self-esteem was raised and their enthusiasm was sky high."Debi Bauman - Emanuele Elementary School - Union City, CA
"Your humor and pace of presentation also helped keep everyone's attention. I can't remember an assembly where EVERY student behaved well. They were so busy being involved they forgot to misbehave! You have great 'teacher skills' for keeping everyone focused and your use of active participation strategies were abundant."Linda Fredericks - Eisenhut Elementary School - Modesto, CA
"Kyle's management of the room is spectacular. Even low achieving students who usually disrupt the whole assembly were totally with Kyle as he engaged all their modalities."Wendy Schroeder - Hapgood Elementary School - Lompoc, CA
"You were totally focused on the kids rather than what a great artist you are. Your school assembly really empowered them. Even my little whiner/complainer guy was successful, engaged and thrilled with his finished work! And my quietest, most self-conscious girl smiled all the way through the assembly and was proud and excited to take her drawings home! This was the best assembly we have had in a long time."Karen Coset - Gold Ridge Elementary School - Santa Rosa, CA
"Assemblies are usually to be viewed and chime in every now and then, but this one allowed the students to be very involved the whole time. ... this was by far one of the best school assemblies I have ever been to. "
Nicole Oviatt - Oliviera Elementary - Fremont, CA
"In any other assembly, the kids don't get to interact as much, maybe 5-10 students get picked out of the 300 that were there, but in yours they were all learning hands on. You did an excellent job with audience control and kept everyone on track."Cris Kemmerer - Cawston Elementary School - Hemet, CA
"The draw along assembly you directed as phenomenal. The students were engaged and learned valuable information about shapes, perspective, etc. They were never wiggly or distracted which is an amazing feat for a school assembly. I have never in my 20 year teaching career seen children so enthralled with any assembly before. Every one of my first graders could tell me, step-by-step, what they did during the assembly, what they learned, and how much they enjoyed it."
Maggie Gallagher - Knolls Elementary School - Simi Valley, CA
"Your instruction was EXTREMELY engaging, educational and enthusiastic. You have amazing audience control and I have never heard our K-2 students that quiet during an assembly. We all walked out having applied our geometry, listening comprehension and following directions skills to our drawings. Thank you for a dynamite learning experience!"Stacy Hultgren - Yamato Colony Elementary - Livingston, CA
"I have one student with Autism who did such an excellent job at following your drawing directions. He surprised us all with his great drawings of a fish and whale and kept telling us 'Look, I did it!' He was smiling from ear to ear and was very proud of his drawings!!!"
Lori Hughes - George Hall Elementary School - San Mateo, CA
As you begin to realize how awesome this assembly will be for your kids this year, let’s go over the nuts n’ bolts of the assemblies themselves, and how we’re going to work together to make it happen for your school.
Here Are The Details
- Each assembly lasts 50 minutes and your school can schedule up to three shows in one day. Most schools only need two assemblies, but if you have a huge population, the third show is available at no extra cost. (This 3rd assembly is also a great choice for PM Kindergarteners.)
When you call, let me know how large your school is and I’ll decide whether two or three presentations would work best for your situation. - The content of each show is designed for specific grades, so K-2 is normally grouped into one assembly... and 3-5/6th in another. For the huge schools, we usually do a K-1, a 2-3 and 4-5/6th group segmentation.
Your school MUST have a multi-purpose room, gym or other large auditorium that is equipped with a large projection screen and a working sound system. - I’ll also require either an old-fashioned overhead projector... or... one of those fancy, high tech new docu-cams. Either type will work just fine. (Check with your Principal and custodian to see what is available before you call.)

How-To-Draw
Family Fun Nights
This year I am continuing to offer interested schools a Follow Up Family Drawing Night to go along with their daytime assemblies.
This is a super awesome, hour long event where we invite all the kids to return to school with their families to complete three more lessons they didn’t experience during the daytime assemblies.
And... at the very end... I will raffle off six JUMBO sized drawings of mine to the students in attendance.
It typically runs from 6:30 to 7:30 pm and must be scheduled on the evening of the daytime shows at your school.
This event is FREE when you schedule during one of my multi school teaching tours in your area. Otherwise, a nominal fee applies. We'll discuss the options when you call.
Your All Inclusive Investment
Whether you schedule one, two or three assemblies, the all inclusive investment for schools in your area is the same. Any and all applicable travel expenses will be included and the fees are NON-negotiable if you are a single school, scheduling alone. Email me for current rates in your area.
Laurie Ford - Ron Nunn Elementary School - Antioch, CA
"The assembly was by far the best spent money for giving back to every child. We've been paying for the **** *** ******* program for several years now and it's become too much work with everything involved. You had complete attention of a hundred plus students who were completely engaged and focused... even the teachers were involved as we all drew with you!"Tanya Bogdanovich - Palms Elementary School - La Palma, CA
"This was well spent PTA money. The assembly was very engaging and all the teachers were amazed a your ability to get all the kids focused and drawing without any problems. It made them believe in their ability to illustrate anything they want."Nancy Ramos - Rio Plaza Elementary School - Oxnard, CA
If, however, you’d like to save some serious moola, I do offer:
Discounted Multi-School Tour Rates!
Whenever possible, I try to get schools to work together and schedule on consecutive days. This allows me to minimize the travel involved and pass along the savings of time and expense to you.
So if you have other elementary schools in your district or area, it’d be very wise to see if they’d be interested in scheduling some assemblies along with you. If that’s not possible, give me a call and I will tell you what dates I’ll be in your area and you can jump on board one of those tours.
Your Iron-Clad
Money Won’t Even Change Hands
Guarantee
All of my assemblies are backed by an unconditional money-back guarantee. If for any reason, or no reason at all, you feel these assemblies didn’t live up to the expectations of this letter, simply let me know, we’ll part friends, and you won’t owe me a dime.
This School Assembly
Isn’t For Everyone
This assembly is not for schools who want average or typical (aka boring) assemblies for their students. It’s not for schools who don’t want their kids to get a well rounded education that includes visual arts. And it’s definitely not for schools who don’t get satisfaction from seeing their student’s self-esteem soar.
So, as long as you don’t fall into those categories...
Here’s What To Do Next
My schedule has already begun filling up for the 2009/2010 school year, with dates scheduled nationally all across the country. However, there are still some available days scattered throughout the year. Go ahead and give me a call to find a date that works best for you!
